English: Viewed towards west, this panoramic view is captured from the village "Thanikkamunnayam", near Nedupuzha,Thrissur, Kerala. A typical scene along the shallow wetlands that line the western coastal area of picturesque land of Kerala, the place is abundant with life.
Various species of fresh water and wetland species, many of them unique to the region can be seen in such terrains. It is also a point in the long itineraries of several migrating birds. During monsoon, these lands are filled with water. However, most of the shallow plains become either marshes or completely dried up after the rains are gone.മലയാളം: തൃശ്ശൂര്‍ ജില്ലയിലെ നെടുപുഴയ്ക്കു പടിഞ്ഞാറു ഭാഗത്തുള്ള താണിക്കമുന്നയം എന്ന കോള്‍ പ്രദേശത്തുനിന്നും പടിഞ്ഞാറുദിശയിലുള്ള ള്ള ഒരു വിശാലവീക്ഷണമാണു് ചിത്രത്തില്‍.
കേരളത്തിന്റെ പശ്ചിമതീരങ്ങളില്‍ സാമാന്യമായി കാണാവുന്ന തണ്ണീര്‍ത്തടങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ചതുപ്പുപ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ക്കും നല്ലൊരു ദൃഷ്ടാന്തമാണു് ഈ കാഴ്ച. വ്യത്യസ്തവും അപൂര്‍വ്വവുമായ സസ്യജന്തുവൈവിദ്ധ്യം പുലര്‍ത്തുന്ന ഈ ഭൂപ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ ദീര്‍ഘദൂരസഞ്ചാരികളായ പല പക്ഷികള്‍ക്കും ഒരു ഇടത്താവളം കൂടിയാണു്. മഴക്കാലത്തു് ഏറെയും മുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്ന ആഴം കുറഞ്ഞ ഇത്തരം സമതലങ്ങള്‍ വേനലാവുന്നതോടെ മിക്കവാറും വരണ്ടു പോകുകയോ ചതുപ്പു മാത്രമായി അവശേഷിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നു. |
