Summary

edit
Description Byron Glacier is a nice short hike - I doubt the maintained trail is a mile. It is very near the Portage Visitor Center, south of Girdwood, Alaska. We hit it on an absolutely ugly, cold, windy day in July 2011 but we were getting stir crazy from not getting out. We thought the skies would open at any time but we lucked out, except for the wind. We thought about hiking a little bit longer but we decided to bag it for a nicer day - just hope we have one!
