ut it in my pocket and went to myroom. I wanted to see its contentswhile I was alone. I hurriedly tore openthe envelope and read as follows: Dear Mr. Kingsley: I shall be pleasedto see you most any evening. I amnearly always at home, and do not goabout much. It would be a pleasure tosee someone from my old home who willnot bring back unpleasant recollections.Yours sincerely, Grace Winston. It would be hard to describe theemotions aroused by the reading of thatletter, and there were many remem-brances associated with her familiarchirography. I was anxious to call andto renew my friendship, for I wouldhardly dare to call it more, for accordingto law I was still a married man, andunder such circumstances, had I the rightto renew my acquaintance with her, as Iknew very well I could not avoid showingmy strong affection for her. Butwhether I had it or not, it was my inten-tion to take the right, and I hurriedlydashed off a note to her stating I wouldcall the next evening. (To be Continued.)
