DescriptionOudemansiella incognita 402640.jpg |
Oudemansiella incognita (Methven & R.H. Petersen) Zhu L. Yang, G.M. Muell., G. Kost & Rexer Image location: Lake Bistineau State Park, Webster Parish, Louisiana, USA Two of these mushrooms were found in the same general area among mostly mixed hardwoods. They have the appearance of a Caulorhiza species in that they had a deep “tap root”. I got most of the smaller one. They differ from the western C. umbonata in that the cap color is more yellow and the spores were definitely a light yellow rather than white. Also by my estimation the spores appeared to be at least twice as large. Edit 2-7-2014; Checked spores from print. Spores~ 13.2-16.0 X 9.2-10.9 microns. Q(ave) = 1.50. Recognized by sight
