Summary
editDescriptionMantle and brain terrain ESP 056826 1445.jpg |
English: Upper part of image shows brain terrain. Lower part shows mantle covering the surface. Brain terrain forms when ice leaves along cracks by the process of sublimation--that is it does not melt--just goes into a gas phase. Mantle is ice rich and falls from the sky at times. It may still contain some water ice. This image was named HiRISE picture of the day for August 6, 2020. |
