Description
English: Glory. Allegorical sculpture of Science and Art, at the Glorieta de Cádiz (a roundabout) in Madrid (Spain). It's one of the three parts of a sculptural group named La Gloria y los Pegasos ("The Glory and the Pegasus") that symbolizes Progress and was originally at the top of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture headquarters (in Madrid). The group was designed by Agustí Querol Subirats (1860–1909), scupted in Carrara marble in 1905, and replaced in 1976 by a bronze replica by Juan de Ávalos. The original marble sculptures were restored and placed at Plaza de Legazpi (square) and Glorieta de Cádiz in 1995 and 1998, respectively. The image shows Science (left) and Art (right) receiving the Apollonian palms and laurels of victory from Glory (centre).
