Description
Deutsch: Das Kastell Nag el-Hagar ist ein spätrömisches Militärlager, dessen Besatzung für rückwärtige Sicherungs- und Überwachungsaufgaben im südlichen Grenzgebiet der Provinz Thebaϊs zuständig war. Diese Provinz wurde während der Regierungszeit des Kaisers Diokletian (284–305) im Jahr 298 n. Chr. nach der Aufgabe des Dodekaschoinos eingerichtet.[2] Die Überreste der Garnison, die auch als Repräsentationsort eines bedeutenden Beamten gedient haben muss, wurden am Ostufer des Nils, nahe dem Dorf Nag el-Hagar im Gouvernement Assuan in Oberägypten, entdeckt und in mehrjährigen Kampagnen ab 1984 teilweise ergraben.
