Description
English: Gravestone in Bowness-on-Windermere Cemetery, Cumbria of John Atkinson, who died in 1895, and his wife Ann, who died in 1902. The inscription commemorates also their son, Private John Atkinson, service number 11116, who served in the 6th Border Regiment and was killed in action at Gallipoli on 19 August 1915, aged 34. He is commemorated also on the Helles Memorial in Turkey. Please note the CWGC records his death date as 9 August.
