Der Stadtrat von Büren (Westfalen) hat die Annahme der nachstehend beschriebenen Flagge beschlossen, die der Regierungspräsident in Detmold am 16. Januar 1976 genehmigte.

Flaggenbeschreibung
„Banner: Von rot und weiß längsgestreift mit dem Wappenschild der Stadt im rechteckigen Bannerhaupt.
Hissflagge: Von rot und weiß längsgestreift mit dem Wappenschild der Stadt im rechteckigen durchgehenden Flaggenhaupt.“ [1]

Die Blasonierung des vom Stadtrat am 13. Juni 1975 beschlossenen und am 2. Juni 1977 durch den Regierungspräsidenten in Detmold genehmigten Stadtwappens, von dem diese Flagge abgeleitet ist, lautet:

„Das Stadtwappen zeigt: in Rot auf einem grünen Dreiberg eine silberne Burg mit drei Zinnentürmen; unter dem breiten Mittelturm in einem offenen Torbogen ein silberner Schild mit einem roten Rautensparren.“ [2]
