Description
English: Humorous vignette published by El Liberal de Murcia, which shows two criminals carrying monarchist and fascist insignia in a so-called "rightist district", in what the historian Egea Bruno (2013) points out as a satire of the recruitment of common criminals by rightist personalities as thugs in the service of their political interests.1
In the Region of Murcia, the term "Chinese district" (Spanish for Red-light district) referred to El Molinete, a marginal neighborhood in which delinquents like Juan Vicente Fernandez "El Chipé" enjoyed the protection of the conservative elites in exchange for intimidation and aggression against leftist militants.
