Altitude 612 m Le clocher à peigne est un mur surmonté d'un pignon triangulaire ou horizontal percé de baies où se balancent les cloches. Ils étaient plus faciles à édifier, c'est par excellence le clocher des églises dites "pauvres". Lorsqu'on sonnait les cloches à la volée, le son parvenait mieux aux voyageurs égarés dans la tourmente, d'où les nom de clocher de tourmenten clocher de tempête. On les rencontre plus facilement dans les pays de montagne, sur les plateaux sauvages balayés par les vents. Les cloches renseignaient les habitants des hameaux éloignés sur la vie de la communauté. Un baptême ne se sonnait pas comme un mariage ou un glas. Chaque cérémonial avait son rite et son rythme. Autrefois on sonnait la grosse cloche à l'arrivée de l'évêque. Elle sonnait les jours d'orage pour éloigner les nuages de grêle des récoltes. Si un feu se déclarait, le tocsin appelait la population à l'aide, la cloche s'appelait "la campane". A la révolution la "Convention" décida d'envoyer à la fonte les cloches pour la fabrication des canons provoquant le désarroi et la fureur des gens comme si l'on avait voulu bâillonner la vie de la communauté. |
