Français : La ville haute de Briançon et les forts qui la protègent sont classés au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. L'ensemble a été pensé par Vauban à la fin du 17° siècle mais en grande partie bâti après sa mort. Construite au carrefour des vallées de la Durance, de la Clarée, de la Guisane et de la Cerveyrette, Briançon est le verrou des Alpes du sud, coté France.
Le Fort du Château, point haut des remparts de Briançon, est un ancien château-fort médiéval. Vauban l'a fait transformer. Son immense pan incliné empêche les soldats de monter à l’assaut.
