edit| Description |
English: This is Count van der Burch who was authorized in February 1814 by the allied military authority to raise a regiment of light horse. His Cavalry regiment was incorporated in September 1814 into the emerging Dutch-Belgian army. On 7 June 1815, it became the Se Light Dragoons, under the command of lieutenant-colonel de Mercx. It fought with distinction in the Battle of Quatre-Bras and Waterloo. It subsequently gave birth to the 1st regiment of Lancers of the Belgian Army, which has retained, from its origins, its war cry of "Valiant of van der Burch". |
