Summary
editDescriptionA Wensleydale wall - geograph.org.uk - 883849.jpg |
English: A Wensleydale wall The wall might be in Bishopdale, but it is typical of the drystone walling style seen in Wensleydale and its side valleys. Note the two well marked lines of 'throughs' which help to bind the wall together. A wall like this in the valley bottom comprises some 'field' stones, which are often rounded from water or glacial action, and some quarried stone [usually more angular]. Each major dale tends to display slight differences in the style of walling. |
