Summary

Description
English: One of the first medium-rise, high density schemes designed under recent ODPM and GLA initiatives, the phased scheme covers almost 50% of Southwark’s Bermondsey Spa Regeneration area.

Sites E-U contain 627 homes, with a GP Surgery and commercial uses to provide active street frontages; site D provides a further 139 units with 300 sq m of commercial space.

A guiding principle is the comfortable marriage of the varied tenures, which include housing for sale, shared ownership, as well as affordable homes for rent and key worker accommodation. Designed to Ecohomes ‘very good’ standard, the scheme has linked community heating plant and very high levels of insulation.

The masterplan reintroduces elements of the 1950s street pattern and responds to the church, adjoining railway and busy Jamaica Road frontage.
