This file was initially tagged by Rybkovich as Fair use (Non-free) and the most recent rationale was: book cover {{PD-US no notice}}? Yann (talk) 11:17, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi I am new. Sorry if I have basic questions. And it would be great if you can address them.
- 1 How do I find the history of my tags?
- 2 Is the issue that my fair use tag was replaced by a different tag - the book cover tag? Or was the fair use tag not replaced and the issue was that now I had two different tags?
- 3 What did I do to tagg the file as fair use? Was it because I chose the "I believe this work is freely licensed or legally in the public domain. I understand that if I do not add the necessary licensing information in a timely fashion, the file may be deleted." option in the upload wizard process?
- 4 Under licensing section of Cal v. Syracuse, there is an entry that the work (the the program) is in the public domain. Is this entry based on the publication being before 1977 and without notice? How do we know that the program did not have a copyright notice?
- 5 If the work is considered to be in the public domain why is my image still nominated for deletion? Thank you Rybkovich (talk) 16:01, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Rybkovich: Hi,
- 1. You can click on the "History" tab to see edits in the description, and previous versions.
- 2. and 3. Fair use is not allowed on Commons. It can stay here only if it is in the public domain, or has a permission for a free license. The second is pretty unlikely, so the only possibility is "public domain".
- 4. That's the tricky part. More experts like @Clindberg: may help.
- 5. I think there is a chance that it is in the PD, so I didn't delete it right away. Deletion requests are usually open for a week, after which an admin will review it. Regards, Yann (talk) 19:59, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Yann: Got it thank you. I have another new user question: what was the purpose of you using the @Yann: template in your response? Is it best just in case other people join? Rybkovich (talk) 21:38, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- I get a notifcation. Yann (talk) 22:31, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

Deleted: Since this is the cover of a booklet, the copyright notice could appear anywhere in the work, usually on the verso side of the second or third page. It is unlikely that it was published without notice. Unless you can show that there was no notice anywhere in the booklet, the cover image cannot be kept on Commons. . Jim . . . .
