You never want to have knee pain, or any type of popping or cracking. Those are all signs of muscle and ligament issues that could lead to more serious injury. Use these stretches and strengthening workouts to keep your knees healthy (especially you runners).

Be sure that you are comfortable and can relax while you are stretching. | By Dr. Brian Cox | To stretch out your hips you can get down on the floor. We're gonna try to get both legs at 90 degrees so this leg is gonna be at 90 degree angle with your knee forward right out of your body, this one is gonna be at 90 degree angle with your legs straight out. And you're gonna place your hands down on the floor on the other side, do it wherever you're comfortable, it can be here or down here, and then really slowly just gonna start to twist and look back Just go to where it's comfortable and breathe. You can go back and forth for a couple of breaths and you can go ahead and switch it over trying to go for the same setup and reverse it.
This is an intermediate level move that will help you loosen up tightness in your hips and back. A really nice stretch. #Stretching #HipsStretch #Relax

Laying Quad Stretch | A more advanced way to stretch out the front of your leg. Keep your knees, and fit in line with your hips. Press your leg down into the floor to feel the... | By Dr. Brian Cox | A great stretch for the front of the legs to get lying face down you see if you can grab the front of your foot. Try to twist your knee keep it in line if you can with your hip and your just gonna pull it in so your heel comes toward your hip if you can get it all the way there try to press down into the floor. Pushing down you'll feel a little stronger stretch. Then you can do the same on the opposite side you can tighten it pressing down, and if you can tolerated you can do both at once all the way in heels to hips and press down. It's a great stretch for the front of your hips and it really lets you compare your two sides.

Raised Leg Stretch | Try this as a different way to stretch the back of your legs. . Just be sure that you have something for balance and you are keeping everything sqaure... | By Dr. Brian Cox | A move to test or stretch out the back of your legs you just need a chair, or stairs, but but hold on. Start with your feet pointed straight forward. Just set one leg up, the goal is to get your standing leg straight first, and stand regular tall, and then slowly straighten this leg as far as you can. Try to keep your waist, your hips and everything pointed forward. Should feel any kind of pull along in here, if it's too strong just keep it bent a little bit. Hold it about 10 seconds, bring your foot down equal put your other leg up your stance leg and your body straight and square and then slowly lower this one down to feel the stretch
