I didn't bring any of my cats this year because I was in charge of taking photos.
Those who didn't feel comfortable entering a church, or those whose pets are most likely unable to behave inside the church, we offer blessing in the park, which fortunately is just across the church.
When we were about to go home for the day, a few more people came for the blessing and so the priest conducted the blessing at the parking lot.

ReplyDeleteWow, there are so many dogs! No cats, though? I would totally bring my two babies here :)
ReplyDeleteWe used to take my mother's doggie Coco to get blessed at a beautiful retreat in Danville. Very sweet!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet animals! Neat idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Father blessed your kitties in absentia -- since you had such a good excuse to leave them at home this year ;>)
ReplyDeleteThis is great and I love seeing all the animals. I have a St. Francis statue in my front yard that was my parents'. Birds land on it all the time but I don't think I've ever managed to get a shot of them on St. Francis.
ReplyDeleteWhat an intriguing idea and a great set of pets. I wonder what little Socks would think of a church?
ReplyDeletelove all the pets!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting ceremony for pets. You did a fine job of documenting the blessing in the church and across the street.
ReplyDeleteI think St Francis would be very pleased!

ReplyDeleteLook at all those cute dogs, and what a lovely day it was, as well, for giving the blessings.

This is a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful pictures of the people and their pets. You did a fine job of being the photographer for the occasion. Our little Anglican church does the blessing of the animals and it is a special day.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the most priceless things I've ever heard of, Maria. I LOVE the pics.
ReplyDeleteI recall a local church doing this years ago - they had horses and pigs and snakes, parrots cats dogs hamsters - they only did it the once.
