Unplayable Neverland
A downloadable unplayable prototype
This is a deliberately incomplete game. It is a dream of a game, and a dream of a home.
Unplayable Neverland was made for the lost, broken, unplayable~ jam hosted by Snow.
I’ve had this idea of a Neverland game for a long time, probably years at this point. Like many trans men and trans masc folks, I’ve felt an attraction to Peter Pan and Neverland since childhood. At first it was a desire to run away and be a boy forever, going on adventures, being free, and being myself.
And as I got older, the attraction stayed. Perhaps because that little child in me is still wounded and healing. Perhaps because the adult me still wants an excuse to run away, go on adventures, be free, and be myself.
As a child, I was searching for a place to be myself, which can also be called ‘home’. As an adult I have found pieces of home, but I am still searching for the rest. All of this sentiment, of self and home, lies beneath this game. I have an idle thought (and an idle google doc) of making this into a full, actually playable game. But I fear it’s been idling too long, so here is a taste. It is technically playable, but only if you make up most of the rules on the fly and all of the adventures too.
Consider this a spark, a hope, a wish, a dream. May it carry you to the second star on the left, and straight gay on ‘til morning ✨

A friend of mine always preferred "gaily forward" to "straight"
Oh wow, that was so quick Schwa! I’m touched you were inspired to create for this game, thank you 💚
