Trach Care Overview | www.anurseinthemaking.com
NCLEX Tips for Trach Care: 😮‍💨 Trach care is sterile: Always maintain sterility ❗🌟REMEMBER: we start out sterile, but once we begin cleaning debris from the trach and replacing old with new, we don’t stay sterile! 😮‍ Keep emergency equipment at bedside: Bag valve mask (BVM), suction supplies, replacement tracheostomy tube, obturator 😮‍ Monitor for signs of infection: Redness, swelling, or discharge 😮‍ Ensure adequate humidification: Prevent mucous plugging 😮‍ Keep airway clear: Suction as necessary 😮‍ Pre-oxygenate: Before and after suctioning 😮‍ Dislodged Cannula? Call for help, attempt reinsertion, use BVM over nose/mouth if needed #nursingnotes #NCLEXprep #RN #LPN #nursingschool #nursingstudent #nurseinthemaking

– EKG & CARDIAC RHYTHM QUICK NOTES – Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib) 🫀 Irregular R-R intervals 🫀 Atrium is *quivering* which leads to pooling of blood 🫀 Increased risk for CLOTS Atrial Flutter 🫀*Sawtooth* appearance between R-R’s 🫀 Regular R-R intervals 🫀Increases the risk for clots Ventricular tachycardia (V-Tach) 🫀NO contraction, NO cardiac output = potentially fatal 🫀 May respond to defib! 🫀 “Tombstone appearance” wave formations Ventricular Fibrillation (V-Fib) 🫀Rapid, disorganized pattern of electrical activity in the ventricle = CARDIAC ARREST 🫀 *DEFIB the V-FIB* Are P waves present in A-Fib? #nursingnotes #nursing #EKG #Cardiacnursing #BLS #ACLS #cardiaccare #emergencynursing #RN #BSN #EKGinterpretation #cardiacrhythms
EKGs Made Ridiculously Simple 🫀 👉Truth: Let’s be honest when we all first saw different EKGs, they just looked like squiggly lines. It used to feel impossible for me to interpret an EKG. Let me show you an easier way.
