Although this paper recognizes the work of the Holy Spirit in the role of pastoral care, it does not present any scientific study to the shift in the transformed life under the guide of the Spirit. It makes a link to the character of God's Spirit as compassion and the spirit of the Pastoral caregiver as being also caring and compassionate.

1 Center Church has always been described as a rural lighthouse, a place where cleansing and heal... more 1 Center Church has always been described as a rural lighthouse, a place where cleansing and healing work hand-in-hand to build up and restore community. For the past three years, Winthrop (Winn) has been the local part-time pastor 1 for the congregation of around 40 people in regular attendance. This core group wears many of the leadership hats needed to run the programs and ministry of the church. Pastor Winn entered the ministry at a mature age and came to Center Church from a congregation in an urban environment as an assistant minister taking orders from a Senior Pastor and standing in only when commissioned. Prior to that, he owned and operated a small computer software company with a partner. Before Winn, the Center Church experienced the retirement of their Senior Pastor of 35 years and the comings and goings of two additional Pastors and an interim Pastor. The high turn over rate of ministers resulted in the dwindling numbers from over 200 people to the few foundational members that are left. Center Church is currently at another turning point, Pastor Winn will be retiring and they are starting the search for their next minister. The organizational structure at Center Church is a blended mix of traditional and contemporary worship steeped in a biblically based evangelical conservatism. As the new pastor, Winn's agenda was to transform the worship, the building and the people's thoughts about what church is today. Playing on a newly appointed book recommended by the District Superintendent, Winn encouraged all the leaders to read it and
