Melinda Landeck
I am an Assistant Professor of East Asian Studies at Austin College, a small private liberal arts college in North Texas. I hold a Ph.D. in East Asian history, completed with honors at the University of Kansas in fall 2015. A specialist on Japan's early modern period (1600-1868), my research explores the socio-political impacts of chanoyu tea practice among warlords of the Tokugawa era. I am currently teaching courses on East Asian history at the University of Kansas and have previously taught courses in Japanese language, culture and literature at Colorado State University (2003-2008) and the University of Wyoming (2006-2007).
