This is my first ever time trying this glaze method using the syringe so please don’t judge 🫣 I honestly don’t think I’ll never go back! If you know me, you know that I prefer to glaze all of my pieces by hand. I’m not big on dipping and man this is a huge time saver!! Also, yes some of my glazes are way thinner than others so they dripped out of the syringe. Those would be opulence glazes, which I’m actually obsessed with. Because they are so thin, they dry super fast between coats and the color is always perfect! #ceramics #pottery #potteryasmr #glaze #ceramicglaze #glazelayering #supportsmallbusiness #giftideas #homedecor #plates #madeinaskutt #fired #claybosswheel #whitespeckledclay #wheelthrow
NTM [Naomi Burnham]Ceramic Artist on Instagram: "Shop update! I’ll be adding this gorgeous mug and lots of other work from the last 6 months to my site on October 13th at 10am EST I found some twine in my studio and was inspired to try out a new glazing technique on this porcelain mug. I first applied 2 coats of @amacobrent obsidian inside and out and then sponged on the turquoise glaze. What do you think of the results? I’m a little in love and now want to test this technique will other resist options #muglover #coffeemugs #handmademug"
Rosie | Heath and Sea | Handmade Pottery on Instagram: "Is this the most fun way to glaze pottery? For me it is. The key to great marbling is to pick your glazes carefully. I stick to using glazes that I know interact well and that I've fired to the same temperature with success. This helps limit the chance of pinholes and other imperfections. Once fired, these plates will hopefully be a nice mix of blues and whites. . . . #handmadepottery #glazingpottery #potteryglazing #potteryinspiration #potterylove #lovepottery #ceramics #ceramica #ceramicstudio #handmadeceramics"
Liz Cohen Ceramics on Instagram: "I'm frequently asked how I get tape to curve. I have a hard time explaining it with words...maybe this helps? Maybe not? 👇🏻 Tack it down, hold it in place with your finger, then pull the end of the tape the direction you want it to go. Slide your finger along the surface of the tape, tacking it down, as you continue to pull the tape the direction you want it to go. It has its limits though. Can't really get 90° angles, but 45°? Sure. If the tape buckles up on a curve, use a rib to smooth it down so glaze doesn't seep underneath. Hopefully that helps at least a little. It takes some practice! Good luck."

Glaze Techniques - Easy Resist Methods - Wheel Thrown Mugs - Tape Removal
You can use many methods for resist during the glazing process of ceramics making. I'm obsessed with using pinstripe automotive tape to create intricate geometrical designs on my pottery. While tedious, yes-- it's so satisfying when you get to pull the tape off!
