Alison Smith on Instagram: "Saturday sewing tip. Hemming up a fabric where the stitches may show through - fuse a 1.5cm wide strip of interfacing to the garment where the hem will be hand stitched in place. Then catch stitch in place, roll back the overlocked edge, and then take a stitch into the interfacing followed by a stitch into the edge of the overlocking. Result no stitches show on either side ! #sewwithalison #schoolofsewing #saturdaysewing #handsewnhem #sew #sewahem #catchstitch #dress Catch Stitch, Alison Smith, Tip Of The Day, Sewing Hacks, Dressmaking, Hand Stitched, Hand Stitching, Hand Sewing, Take That

Yang Yu Hong on Instagram: "2 Quick Overlocker Tricks 1 - Instant Hemming With the wrong side of your fabric facing up, roll your hem to your mark then roll it back on itself (to create a Z or S shape depending on how you look at it). Overlock the three layers together, give the seam a good press and you’re done! 2 - Increased Gathers With your overlocker in the gather setting and at maximum stitch length, run the edge of your fabric through. The initial gathers are done, but if you wanted to increase the gathering, find the middle thread of the stitch and pull it from one side to intensify the gather effect! Hope these tips helped, and as always, happy sewing! #sewing #fashiondesigner #sewingtips #upcycling #sewsewsew #fashiondesign" Overlocker Tips, Overlocker Projects, Serger Tips, Sewing Hems, Serger Sewing, Sewing Easy Diy, Upcycle Sewing, Sewing Crafts Tutorials, Sewing Stitches

Annie Stafford - Learn to sew on Instagram: "❗️No overlocker, no problem❗️ Have you ever used your sewing machine to overlock your fabric? Well now you can 🙌🏼 In this sewing tutorial I show you how to overlock the edge of your fabric to get a “mock overlocked” look. The trick here is to sew as close as you can to the edge of the fabric, this allows you to pull off any loose threads to make it look overlocked. This sewing hack has come in super useful for me when working with fabric such as this cotton canvas, and is a great way to stop your fabric from fraying. 🦋However if you are going to work with knits and don’t have access to an overlocker, there are other alternatives such as a zig-zag stitch, or a stretch threads. 🦋 If you enjoyed this reel, make sure to like, save and fol Overcast Stitch Sewing Machine, How To Use An Overlocker, Overlock Stitch On Sewing Machine, Sewing Machine Hacks, Overlocking Stitch, Overlocker Projects, Zig Zag Stitch, Sewing Tips And Tricks, Overlock Machine
