Eric Erickson's Psychosocial Development Chart- The most widely accepted theory of how human beings develop from infancy to old age is Erik Erikson's stages of psychosocial development. At each stage, there is a crisis to be resolved and a virtue to be gained. According to the theory, failure to properly master each step leads to problems in the future.

Piaget's Stages of Cognitive Development
In chapter eleven from pages 452 to 456, Piaget's theory of stages of cognitive development is explained. He developed his theory after noticing that the way that children think is dependent on what age they are. His theory on cognitive development consists of four stages: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational. Everyone goes through all four of the stages, not everyone spends the same amount of time in each stage. In the first stage, babies learn about their environment through their senses and their actions, and they slowly develop object permanence. The next stage is where children develop preconcepts. The third stage is where children are able to use logical operations. The final stage is where kids are able to think about and solve abstract problems.
