Unfortunately, more than half of the students suffering from these issues do not seek help, citing stigma as the main impediment. While the church's health message has often brought attention to physical health issues, mental health has not received as much attention. This presentation aims to raise awareness of the importance of mental health as part of the health message, in addition to presenting data on a mental health crisis that is occurring among our young people. Lastly, we aim to discuss ways in which academies and colleges can use this information, as well as churches and the larger communities to which we belong, to raise awareness and impact reform.

Secondary analysis of a health-risk behaviors survey collected March 2012 at Andrews University will be analyzed. This will be done using partial correlation, with the effect of age, gender, ethnicity, religious belief and participation as controlling variables. Selection criteria will narrow down the participants to those who self-identify as Seventh-day Adventist, single, age 18-25, and not living at home. It is hypothesized that involvement with parent will have weak, but statistically significant, relationship with less likelihood to consume alcohol in the past week and conflict with parent will have weak, but statistically significant, relationship with more likelihood to consume alcohol in the past week. Initial data analysis has confirmed the hypothesis. Involvement and conflict with mother had a stronger relationship with alcohol use than with father. It is hypothesized the relationship will be stronger for females and those who are younger

Psalm 103:13, NIV Purpose The purpose of this seminar is to raise the awareness of the challenges and blessings of being a non-custodial parent. This seminar further helps to promote co-parenting between the non-custodial parent(s) and the custodial parent(s) as they seek to adjust to a "new normal" pattern of family living. Finally, this seminar seeks to present ways in which the church can be a safe haven for both the noncustodial parent and the custodial parent as they work together to rear their child and/or children.

There were three projects: (1) a literature review of Christian radio; (2) focus groups on AWR effectiveness; and (3) and an audience impact survey in two areas of India and Russia. This presentation is based on the audience impact survey. Approximately 500 surveys were collected in market places in two areas of India and 500 from Adventist Churches in these two areas. This methodology was repeated in Russia. These countries were chosen because AWR invested considerable resources in these counties. In India it was found that the majority of Church members were unaware of AWR and less than 5% in the market place had ever heard of AWR. Awareness was higher in Russia; 12% of the market place was aware of the existence of AWR with 86% of Church members aware. Within the market place, only two of the 500 individuals surveyed reported any impact from AWR. The data showed the difficulty of m...
