The wastes generated during the processing of this fruit (20 million tons), which represent up to 60% of the weight of the fruit and consist mainly of peels (12%) and kernels seeds (20%), cause a series of environmental and economic problems for entrepreneurs in the sector. This is because there are no clear policies for its disposal and reuse. Nevertheless, the development of biotechnological tools has led to these wastes becoming subject of interest for their use in multiple industries such as food and pharmaceuticals, since it has been shown that they can be used as raw material to obtain phenolic compounds with biological activities (antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticancer, etc.). This review compiles the most relevant works from 2016 to 2021 about extraction, quantification, identification, biological activities, and applications of phenolic compounds obtained from the mango tree, with special focus on the fruit, with the objective to promote the use of mango from a sustainable perspective, and with a biorefinery approach.

We have used different approaches for the dispersion of MWCNTs during the synthesis; 1) an ultrasound bath for 5 minutes, 2) an ultrasound bath for 60 minutes, and 3) an ultrasound probe for 5 min. We observed that the incorporation of MWCNTs in the TiO2 synthesis improves the catalytic activity in the photooxidation of propene, but the best results are obtained for ultrasound probe treatment. A good dispersion of the MWCNT and an increase in the active surface area or surface oxygen functionalities of the MWCNTs are key factors to achieve an improved photocatalytic activity for total propene oxidation, thus benefitting from the synergy between TiO2 and MWCNT.

Dextran aldehyde (dexOx), resulting from the periodate oxidative cleavage of 1,2-diol moiety insi... more Dextran aldehyde (dexOx), resulting from the periodate oxidative cleavage of 1,2-diol moiety inside dextran, is a polymer that is very useful in many areas, including as a macromolecular carrier for drug delivery and other biomedical applications. In particular, it has been widely used for chemical engineering of enzymes, with the aim of designing better biocatalysts that possess improved catalytic properties, making them more stable and/or active for different catalytic reactions. This polymer possesses a very flexible hydrophilic structure, which becomes inert after chemical reduction; therefore, dexOx comes to be highly versatile in a biocatalyst design. This paper presents an overview of the multiple applications of dexOx in applied biocatalysis, e.g., to modulate the adsorption of biomolecules on carrier surfaces in affinity chromatography and biosensors design, to serve as a spacer arm between a ligand and the support in biomacromolecule immobilization procedures or to generat...

The structural and textural features of the obtained materials were determined by various physico-chemical techniques such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), Nitrogen sorption at 77 K, energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and ultravioletvisible (UV-vis). The DRX results showed that calcination at 400 °C of the mixture between calcined SAPO-34 and TiO 2 gel led to the collapse of the original framework of zeolite but forms the anatase TiO 2 in a nano-spherical morphology, but the use of as-synthesized SAPO-34 supports provides a mixture phase between SAPO-34 and TiO 2 anatase after calcination. The photocatalytic properties of SAPO-34/TiO 2 and TiO 2 type materials were tested for the removal of methylene blue (MB) dye. The MB degradation proved to be increasing as a function of contact time, catalyst mass and the initial concentration of MB.

This has caused the development of new materials with high hydrogen adsorption capacity. In this field, new layered stannosilicate, called UZAR-S3, has been synthesized and delaminated becoming UZAR-S4. The new materials have been characterized by several techniques: XRD, XRF, SEM, TEM, TGA, adsorption of N 2 , H 2 and CO 2 , Hg porosimetry, 29 Si NMR MAS and 119 Sn NMR MAS. UZAR-S3, with empirical formula Na 4 SnSi 5 O 14 •5H 2 O and lamellar morphology, is a layered stannosilicate built from SnO 6 and SiO 4 polyhedra. The delamination process used here comprises three stages: protonation with acetic acid, swelling with nonylamine and the delamination itself with an HCl/H 2 O/ethanol solution. UZAR-S4 is composed of sheets of a few nanometers of thickness with a high aspect ratio and BET surface area of 236 m 2 /g twenty times higher than for UZAR-S3. At-196 ºC, H 2 adsorption is measured reaching remarkable values of 3.7 and 4.2 wt% for 10 and 40 bar, respectively, the last value giving a high volumetric H 2 storage capacity of 26.2 g of H 2 / L.

By using the term "project" we mean a set of coordinated and intertwined activities of both theoretical and practical character with specific objectives that aim to potentiate the learning of knowledge and skills in the student that may be of great help in his/her development, personal realization, and future professional practice. From a broad perspective, they may be considered small research projects.

In this review we have focused our attention on its application in the production of bio-peptides by hydrolysis of proteins from fish residues. This way, a residual material, that can become a contaminant if dumped without control, is converted into highly interesting products. The main bioactivity of the produced peptides is their antioxidant activity, followed by their nutritional and functional activities, but peptides with many other bioactivities have been produced. Thera are also examples of production of hydrolysates with several bioactivities. The enzyme may be used alone, or in combination with other enzymes to increase the degree of hydrolysis.

The catalysts have been characterised by H 2 chemisorption, hydrogen temperature-programmed desorption (H 2-TPD), specific surface area (SSA), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and transmission (TEM) and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) analyses. Reaction over these catalysts generated the target alkenol (2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol (MBE) and 3-buten-2-ol (BE)) through partial hydrogenation and alkanol (2-methyl-butan-2-ol (MBA) and 2-butanol (BA))/ketone (2butanone (BONE)) as a result of full hydrogenation and double bond migration. The catalysts exhibit a similar Pd nanoparticle size (2.7 ± 0.3 nm) but modified electronic character (based on XPS). Hydrogenation activity is linked to surface hydrogen (from H 2 chemisorption and H 2-TPD). An increase in H 2 :Alkynol (from 1→10) results in enhanced alkynol consumption with greater rate in the transformation of MBY (vs. BY); H 2 :Alkynol had negligible effect on product distribution. Reaction selectivity is insensitive to Pd site electron density with a similar response (S MBE = 65 ± 9% and S BE = 70 ± 8%) over Pd δ-(on Al 2 O 3 and MgO) and Pd δ+ (on C and CeO 2).
