The history of Sabon Gari system in Northern Nigeria has received attention from scholars, yet th... more The history of Sabon Gari system in Northern Nigeria has received attention from scholars, yet the absence of such settlements in some of the Northern cities and towns has not been addressed. This paper examined the reasons for its absence in Katsina metropolis unlike Kano, Zaria, Sokoto and Gusau- which were settlement that were specially reserved for non-indigene settlers. The paper revealed that the absence of Sabon Gari and Tudun Wada was due to non-declaration of Katsina as a township by the colonial authority during the colonial period so was not economically significant. There was also little influence of missionary schools to attract Igbo, Yoruba and Nupe migrants into Katsina as compared to most Northern cities. The paper also revealed that, the loyalty/liberal disposition of Dikko to the British, and the highly cosmopolitan nature of Katsina metropolis were a contributive factor to that effect.

This demand paved way for the establishment of different private primary and secondary schools. Therefore, this paper sets to analyze and explore the impact of private school administration on educational advancement in Katsina State. Thus, the efficient method of research applied to come up with a reliable result, were in the form of conducting interviews with resource persons, consulting newspapers, magazines, archival and government documents, internet among others. Thus, in the course of a major finding, it was discovered that some of the people joining the business of private school believed money is bedrock. This lead to highest rate of examination malpractices, indiscipline and exploitation of teachers in most private school. From this paper, it is also clear that despite the role of private school on educational advancement in Katsina State it still face challenges, of which the way-out is for proprietors to maintain standard, avoid teacher's exploitation, parent prompt payment of school fees. Then government agencies, examination bodies, and NGOs should discharge their duties respectively and make provision for grant in form of aid.

Through careful examination of primary and secondary sources, this paper, among others things looked into the history and nature of private schools in Katsina, its impacts in terms of social service and revenue generation. In the process, the paper revealed that private schools were out for both social service and profit making since every business require breakeven for profit, investment and re-investment. The paper further revealed that private school serve as an instrument through which government policies were tested or made. The paper also made recommendations in achieving efficiency in private school industry as a process for national development.

Those years witnessed not only the growth and development of the church but the strong support of the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM), Church Missionary Society (CMS), Roman Catholic Missions (RMS) and then, unity among the Christians Europeans and Nigerians who were staff of the colonial and post-colonial government. Followed by the indigenes of Katsina who converted to Christianity and many philanthropist who donates funds toward the establishment of church in Katsina metropolis and its environs in the period 1930s to 2017 when Katsina State celebrate her 30 years of State creation from Kaduna State. The paper reveals that, there over 50 churches in Katsina metropolis which constituted the 5 blocs of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and beyond reasonable doubt, Katsina felt the impact of Christianity in terms of infrastructural development, education, health care services, inter-group relations//peaceful co-existence and community services. The paper further revealed a concise and interesting accounts of Christianity in Katsina metropolis from the coming of the first Christian missions to the establishment of the indigenous and self- supporting churches of today.
