Associate Professor Anete Strand is driven by exploring the significance of materiality in organizational development and change, professional supervision practices, and learning and idea-generation processes more broadly. Anete teaches, supervises, and conducts workshops in areas such as communication, storytelling, organizational change, as well as data and knowledge forms. She also advises both private and public organizations on development and transformation. In addition, through her research, Anete Strand has developed the method *Material Stories*, which involves using small figurines to evoke experiences and gain deeper insights into a particular issue or topic. The method is conducted in a laboratory at AAU Innovate, which serves as a platform for both research and workshops. Anete is currently working on certifying the method. Anete Strand teaches and supervises Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. students at the Department of Communication and Psychology, particularly focusing on Bachelor's students in Communication and Digital Media, Master’s students in Communication, Master’s students in PROF, IT Management, and Bachelor's students in Organizational Learning. In her teaching, Anete emphasizes the use of diverse pedagogical methods, including "objects as prompts" to encourage students to draw upon experiences, sensory impressions, and pre-understandings. For the past ten years, she has been the main architect behind the comprehensive camp course *Virksomme processer* for Master's students, which is built on close collaboration with four to six companies, tackling their real-world challenges. Anete Strand is a member of the Study Board for Communication and Digital Media (KDM), where she contributes to developing future educational programs. Over many years, Anete has served as semester coordinator for the Master’s program in Communication. Additionally, she has led the research unit *Material Story Lab*, which has made her one of the key thinkers behind the current *Play Lab* at AAU Innovate, Aalborg University’s Science and Innovation hub.

Karen Barad's post-humanist agential realist account of mattering has far reaching implications f... more Karen Barad's post-humanist agential realist account of mattering has far reaching implications for understanding intentionality, memory, and learning in organizations. We argue for a diffractive methodology of material storytelling to organizational learning as an alternative to how narrative and storytelling approaches deal with this issue. Organizational learning is thus seen as changes in the living relationalities that constitute the specific spacetimematter manifold configuration that at any moment and in any situation make up the organization. It implies that learning is relocated from what takes place in the human mind to what takes place in here-and-now performances. Learning does not take place through reflection or reflexivity but is the result of a diffractive process in the here-and-now moment of becoming. Subsequently we argue for a multimodal approach to organizational learning. Instead of relying on oral or written language alone, a material storytelling methodology invites us to play with the apparatus of the whole situation and to integrate spatial, material, and bodily dimensions in organizational learning.

Towards a Postcolonial-storytelling Theory of Management and Organisation

A contribution to management philosophy is made here by the development of a postcolonial-storyte... more A contribution to management philosophy is made here by the development of a postcolonial-storytelling theory, created by drawing together parallel developments in quantum physics and tribal peoples' storytelling. We argue that these developments resituate the hegemonic relationship of discursive representationalism over material storytelling practices. Implications are twofold. First, this dissolves inherent dualisms presumed in the concept of interaction among entities like actor-structure, subject-object and discursive-nondiscursive in favour of a profound ontology of entanglement and intra-action of materiality and discourse, where storytelling is a domain of this discourse. Second, postcolonial phenomena are understood as results of entangled genealogies in which plural voices are present. This implies an understanding and awareness of the intra-action of imperial narratives and material storytelling and antenarrative resistance, and thus the resistance and contestation to imperial and colonising monologic narratives of spatial and temporal alignment.

The paper accounts for the process of becoming of a changed practice within the area of disabilit... more The paper accounts for the process of becoming of a changed practice within the area of disability care in the Municipality of Aalborg in Denmark. Across a period of a few months in the fall of 2015 a group of employees across the organization and an action researcher from Aalborg University (the author) met and formed a research group and across this period a revised model for cooperation emerged that-upon realization-would reconfigure the intra-play of all relevant areas of the organization involved in disability care. The model included the grasping of disability as dis/ability and thereby the model opened the possibility for reworking the binary. The offset of the becoming of the revised model for cooperation was taken from a quantum approach to organizational development and change coined as 'Organizational scenography' as part of the methodology of Material Storytelling (Strand 2012). Here Organizational practices of any kind are understood as material-discursive practices (Barad 2007). A take that widens the range of complexity to be handled but also includes the tools for this handling. A conceptual apparatus of the various significant constituent 'voices' of the organizational scenography of dis/ability care were developed over the course of the project and as a result a renewed material-discursive practice emerged as the recommended 'modus operandi' of dis/ability care. A recommendation entailing a 'village-based-community of practice' which would extend the organizational borders to embrace other dis/ability care facilities and dis/ability care workers/professionals nearby as well as the neighborhood of the village of citizens surrounding these facilities. Thus reworking previously upheld cuts between areas of responsibility of the Municipality/relatives and of Municipality/citizens in general and widening the area-or field of possibility of becoming dis/able. Thus a change of previously upheld relationalities that were no longer beneficial, substantial or sustainable neither economically nor pedagogically. The conclusion was: Dis/ability is to become with many. It is to reconfigure the organizational scenography as one that supports entangled becomings rather than singular, separate beings of citizens and organizational silos with clear cut boundaries. Related to this conclusion another equally recommended practice was the continuation of the material-discursive practice of 'lighthouse dialogues' that had grown out of the project. With the extension that they should be materially supported by a community-based in-house laboratory or 'light-house' closely linked to Aalborg University. The Break enacts a quantum approach to meet the challenges by proposing a combination of three different quantum storytelling technologies – protreptic mentoring, walking, and material storytelling – to enact fruitful breakings of patterns unbecoming. The claim being that the hamster wheel of work–life anno 2016 needs reconfiguration, and the simple yet fruitful manner by which this is done is through acknowledging the benefits of bodies, spaces, and artifacts –as well as the benefits of actually taking a break, discontinuing for a moment in order to continue being better, wiser, and more at ease. This concerns breaks taken as part of the daily routines, as well as outside these routines, in the majesty of nature with time to explore and redirect the course of life in companionships with fellow man as both co-provider of and witness to your elaborations. It is really that simple. The chapter concludes toward a set of dogmas for future reference in addressing these challenges in this manner.
